Before production on any luxury skincare packaging order, Topvisio works through the full structure with the client. Most brands know what they want it to look like.
Fewer know what it needs to be made of — that’s where 15 years of production experience matters.
The board core is 1,200gsm double grey board. This is the standard for premium rigid packaging in this size range, and it’s the right call here. Below 1,000gsm, the sliding panels flex under hand pressure and the mechanism binds. Above 1,500gsm, you’re adding weight and cost with no structural benefit for a box this size. 1,200gsm gives the panels the dimensional stability the double-lift mechanism requires.
The Favini paper specification — 300gsm outer, 140gsm structural — is not standard. Most double-lift boxes use a single paper layer. We use two weights because this box uses full-surface paper stacking. The 300gsm outer layer is thick enough to give each stacked layer a clean, defined edge — which is what makes the contour lines readable. The 140gsm structural layer provides the panel rigidity the sliding mechanism requires. You need both. One without the other compromises either the layered effect or the mechanism.
The gold hot stamping runs at 2.5mm width along selected contour lines. That’s a narrower line than most stamping applications, which means the tooling precision requirements are higher. Too much heat or pressure and the foil bleeds into the adjacent embossed surface. Too little and the adhesion fails at the edges. We dial this in during sample production and lock the parameters before the production run starts.
The EVA insert is 65mm deep — sized to hold a standard 3-piece skincare set securely without the products tipping when the panels are lifted. A silk ribbon pull tab is attached to the base, which allows the recipient to remove the entire insert tray in one motion rather than reaching into the box for individual products.
If a client wants to reduce cost on this luxury skincare packaging, the most straightforward option is switching from Favini to a standard specialty paper. The emboss quality won’t change — the die determines the relief, not the paper brand. What changes is the tactile quality of the surface. Favini reads as higher-end. Standard specialty paper is smoother. Whether that difference matters depends on what’s inside.

The topographic contour pattern on this luxury skincare packaging is not printed and not die-pressed.It is built up from paper — sheets cut to graduating sizes
and stacked in sequence, each layer’s edge forming one contour line of the topographic pattern.
The pattern covers the full outer surface of both sliding panels and the outer shell on this luxury skincare packaging — not just the top face, all of it. Full-surface paper stacking on a sliding mechanism is uncommon because the layer alignment has to account for the panel’s movement. Each layer must be positioned so the pattern connects correctly when the box is closed. If the stacking registration is off by even a millimetre, the misalignment shows at the seam.
The 2.5mm gold hot stamping is applied after embossing. The foil follows the contour of the relief rather than sitting flat on the surface, which gives the gold lines a three-dimensional quality. Under direct light, they catch differently depending on the viewing angle. This is the detail that makes this box difficult to photograph badly.

That’s not a marketing line. The double-lift sliding structure on this luxury skincare packaging is genuinely one of the more demanding pieces we produce at Topvisio.
Two outer panels slide outward simultaneously in opposite directions, with three fixed slots in the centre holding the skincare products in position. When it works correctly, it feels effortless. Getting it to work correctly is the challenge.
The issue is the layered surface. This luxury skincare packaging uses full-surface topographic contour effect across both sliding panels — not printing, not die-pressing, but sheets of paper stacked in graduating sizes. Each paper layer’s edge becomes one contour line. The more layers, the stronger the topographic effect. The challenge is alignment: if any layer is positioned even slightly off, the seam line cuts through the pattern rather than between lines, and the misalignment is immediately visible.
Paper deformation is the other problem. Because the stacked layers are all different sizes, applying adhesive causes the paper to absorb moisture and stretch, shifting the layer positions. We solve this with a low-moisture specialist adhesive combined with jigs that hold each layer in position during bonding — keeping the paper dimensionally stable throughout the stacking process.
The result is luxury skincare packaging that opens cleanly, sits flat when closed, and holds its shape through a retail season. MOQ is 1,000 units. FSC-certified production available. Samples ready within one week of design confirmation.

Favini Specialty Paper: 140gsm + 300gsm
Favini is an Italian paper manufacturer whose specialty papers are used in luxury packaging, fashion, and high-end publishing.
We use two weights in this luxury skincare packaging: 140gsm on the outer face for the embossed surface, and 300gsm as the structural lamination layer. The combination gives the panel the surface quality of a fine paper and the rigidity of a board. For more about Favini’s paper range, see the Favini official website.
1,200gsm Double Grey Board
The board core sits between the two Favini layers and provides the structural base for the sliding mechanism. At 1,200gsm, the panels are rigid enough to slide cleanly without flexing or binding. This is the industry standard board weight for premium rigid boxes in this size range, and we don’t recommend going below it for a double-lift structure.
Full-Surface Topographic Embossing
Paper sheets are cut to graduating sizes and stacked in sequence using low-moisture specialist adhesive and jigs to prevent dimensional distortion during bonding. The stacking covers the entire exterior of both panels and the outer shell. Each stacking batch is inspected for layer alignment before moving to the next process step.
2.5mm Gold Hot Stamping
Applied after embossing along selected contour lines of this luxury skincare packaging. The 2.5mm width requires tighter tooling tolerances than standard stamping. We run adhesion tests on every new foil batch to confirm the bond holds at the embossed surface contour.
65mm EVA Insert with Silk Ribbon
Eco-grade EVA cut to 65mm depth, sized for a standard 3-piece skincare set. The silk ribbon pull tab allows clean single-motion removal of the product tray. Ribbon colour is customisable. The EVA depth can be adjusted for different product heights — supply your product dimensions and we’ll confirm the right specification.

Every element of this luxury skincare packaging can be adapted to your brand. Topvisio’s in-house design team — eight people across structural engineering and graphic design — handles development from brief to approved
sample within one week of design confirmation. Tell us your products and your market.
Embossing Pattern
The topographic contour pattern shown is one design. The layer count, size differential between layers, and contour shape can all be redesigned for a different brand direction — geometric, botanical, brand-specific, or abstract patterns are all achievable through paper stacking.
Paper Colour and Hot Stamping
Standard is white Favini with gold hot stamping. Paper colour available in black, warm grey, cream, and custom Pantone matches. Hot stamping available in silver, rose gold, and holographic in addition to gold. Stamping width and pattern are both adjustable.
Interior Configuration
Standard holds a 3-piece skincare set. If your product range uses a different count or format, the EVA insert is redesigned to match. Supply product dimensions and we’ll propose a layout.
FSC Certification
Available on request for this luxury skincare packaging. Topvisio manages the full chain-of-custody process. For brands supplying European retailers, see the FSC Chain of Custody certification page for documentation requirements.

Skincare brands launching a hero collection use this luxury skincare packaging because the double-lift opening is a content moment.
It photographs differently from every other mechanism. Brands that invest in unboxing content get a box that earns its place in that content.
Holiday and Seasonal Editions
Holiday and seasonal editions where lead times are tight. The topographic embossing on this luxury skincare packaging provides enough visual complexity on its own — no additional foil, print, or trim required. That simplifies the production brief considerably.
Anniversary and Collector Editions
Anniversary and collector editions. The structural quality of this luxury skincare packaging, combined with the secondary use case after the skincare is finished, positions it as a collectible format.
Prestige Retail
Prestige retail in Europe, North America, and the Middle East. The Favini paper and the embossing and hot stamping combination meet the material standards prestige department store buyers evaluate during range reviews.

Q1: Why does this box cost more to produce than a standard rigid box?
Three reasons. First, the double-lift mechanism on this luxury skincare packaging requires tighter engineering tolerances than a standard lid-and-base.
Second, full-surface embossing on a sliding panel is more complex than partial embossing on a fixed lid. Third, 2.5mm hot stamping requires more precise tooling than standard widths. Each is manageable individually. Together they add real time and cost.
Q2: What’s the most common quality problem with this type of box?
Misalignment of the embossed pattern at the seam line, and excessive gap between the panels and the base. Both come from the same root cause: insufficient die precision. We run test embosses on every new die and lock press parameters during sampling before any production run starts.
Q3: Can I switch from Favini to a cheaper paper without affecting the emboss?
Yes. The layered topographic effect is determined by the paper count and cutting precision, not the paper brand. A standard specialty paper will produce the same stacked contour lines. What changes is the tactile quality of the surface between the layers — Favini has a more distinctive texture than standard alternatives. Whether that matters depends on your product’s price positioning.
Q4: What is the MOQ?
MOQ for this luxury skincare packaging is 1,000 units. Custom structural changes or new embossing dies may affect that number — contact us with your brief.
Q5: How does sampling work?
Physical sample of this luxury skincare packaging within one week of design confirmation. We produce a stacking test sample and a full assembly sample. You review both before production starts. Output is held to match the approved sample. Sampling fee refunded against your production order.
Q6: Can this be FSC certified?
Yes. This luxury skincare packaging can be FSC certified. For brands supplying European markets, packaging must also comply with EU Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste. See the European Commission Packaging Waste page for current requirements.
Q7: Does Topvisio handle export?
Yes. Topvisio handles export customs clearance on the China side for all orders of this luxury skincare packaging. We’ve been exporting to Europe, the US, and the Middle East for 15 years and know what each market requires. Door-to-door logistics available for qualifying destinations.
